Conniving Agents
10/5/2006 11:27:13 PM (Eastern Daylight Time, UTC-04:00)

Today, I received this in a newsletter for real estate agents sharing how to make more money.

"When I see a FSBO pop up, I call and tell them I have a client (usually my mom or a friend) that would like to see the house but is not comfortable viewing properties w/out their agent.  They always schedule an appt. and allow me to 'tag along' too."

I have to say that this is one reason why agents get such a bad rap. Some are dishonest.

As investors, we use agents to sell our property. We have sold some of our houses by owner but appreciate professional help for various reasons.

Agents call us with their bargains because they know we call them when the house is ready to sell. If we didn't use an agent, they would call another investor when a bargain comes along.

We were the first investors called when one of our agents took this listing. She called from the driveway and waited for us to come see the house. We made an offer within minutes.

Another reason we like to use agents is because it take time to make appointments, show the property, negotiate, and do all the paperwork. That's time we could be finding a bargain or playing.

After listing just a couple of reasons why we use agents, I have to say that we never list with an agent who calls and says they have a client. We know these are scavengers because they are breaking the "Do not call" laws.

Agents, play fair. Sellers need your help.
